How to Make Japanese Rice Balls
Right, today we are talking about this rice ball.. Recently, I read a book about Japanese culture and suddenly had a craving for this simple yet popular Japanese food - the rice ball. Since the steps are quite simple to follow, I made it several days in a row before losing interest again. I only did a basic version because I don't know how to make complex ones.
Makes:
warm rice, sesame seeds, seaweed sheets brine pickles, a little salt, and a little water
Steps:
1. Spread out a spoonful of warm rice, sprinkle with sesame and seaweed fragments mixed together, then add a brine pickle.
2. Dampen your hands lightly with a bit of salt and water, then shape the rice into a ball or triangle.
3. Wrap it in a strip of seaweed, or leave it unwrapped.
Tips:
You can mix whatever you like into the rice; the simplest version just uses a little salt!
