Warm Ginger Tea with Egg for Cough
In winter, the number of people suffering from colds and coughs increases, especially in the elderly. Here is an old folk remedy,ginger tea is brewed with eggs that has some effect on treating coughs.
Makes: Boil green tea with boiling water until it turns color. Pour the tea into a bowl containing six slices of aged ginger, add two raw eggs and a few pieces of rock sugar, then place in a steamer to simmer for about an hour and a half. It is best to consume it hot, preferably before bedtime after dinner. Generally, coughs can be relieved by taking this remedy for three days; if severe, it can be continued for another three days.
The ginger in the formula has the effect of exciting the arterial and respiratory centers,honey is added to the mixture. After mixing evenly, it can be consumed orally to clear the throat, relieve swelling, and stop coughing. And they are all free of toxic side effects; elderly people may try this remedy. However, for preventing chronic coughs, it is better to quit smoking and drinking, maintain a balanced diet, avoid inhaling odors, prevent colds, and enhance one's immunity.
