Being pregnant and giving birth is a big matter for families, requiring thorough preparation in advance. Nevertheless, such preparations are mostly mental for most couples. In fact, diet also plays an role in pregnancy.

So, how should one eat to get pregnant? According to US News and World Report, a new book titled "Pregnancy Diet" based on research from the Harvard School of Public Health, has provided guidance for those preparing to be mothers.

After surveying about 19,000 women, researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health found that those who consumed more vitamins including folic acid were more likely to become pregnant. Consuming more iron also increases the likelihood of pregnancy, but this must be achieved through eating fruits, vegetables, and beans, not red meat. Therefore, researchers advise women to eat whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

On the contrary, trans fats in fried foods, artificial butter, or processed foods can reduce a woman's chances of pregnancy by interfering with hormone secretion.

Additionally, research found that consuming small amounts of full-fat dairy products daily such as milk, ice cream and cheese helps women get pregnant.Ice cream and cheese also help women conceive.

Why does the "pregnancy diet" have this effect? Harvard researchers say it is because it helps maintain healthy insulin levels, promoting normal ovulation.

In addition to eating a "pregnancy diet," researchers also suggest women exercise for about half an hour every day, which can help prevent infertility due to ovulation issues. Of course, maintaining a suitable weight through exercise is crucial; being either overweight or underweight can hinder pregnancy. Generally, a BMI of 20-24 is appropriate. For example, a woman who is 162 cm tall should weigh between 53 and 64 kg.
