Caution With Kelp Consumption
Many households store some dried kelp. They keep it without eating it immediately. Some people believe that, like other marine products, it can be stored for a long time.1 Kelp is not easy to store for a long time.
After purchasing kelp, it should be consumed as soon as possible within a short period of time.
If it cannot be consumed completely, the opened kelp should be refrigerated in the fridge or freezer. Because after opening, the kelp will degrade its nutritional components due to temperature and light factors during storage, while harmful microorganisms multiply continuously, increasing toxic substances. These reasons can cause the kelp to spoil and become inedible.
2 Soak before eating
When eating kelp, it should be washed thoroughly and soaked with water according to actual conditions, changing the water regularly, generally for more than 6 hours. If the kelp is like cooked mush without elasticity after soaking, it has spoiled and cannot be eaten.
