Can Table Salt Be Used for Cooking?
Coarse salt must be processed before consumption
"Coarse salt" refers to unrefined sea salt,lake salt or well salt, primarily sold by unscrupulous merchants.
The main toxic component in "coarse salt" is barium chloride, which enters the body and mainly accumulates in muscles.;It acts as a muscle toxin, causing numbness in the face and limbs like needle pricks, muscle tremors, spasms, and convulsions.
Severe cases may result in gradual paralysis of muscles, dilated pupils that cannot be regulated,
tongue muscle paralysis leading to difficulty speaking;
respiratory muscle paralysis causing breathing difficulties, potentially leading to death due to cardiac arrest or respiratory failure.
After ingesting "coarse salt" and experiencing poisoning:1. Immediately induce vomiting to expel the barium compound, drink 20-30g of sodium sulfate and take plenty of water to convert the toxic substance into soluble sulfatesodium, then wash the stomach with a 2-5% sodium sulfate solution or warm water until clear.2. After gastric lavage, orally consume or inject 10-30g of sodium sulfate in 200-300ml of water one hour later and repeat if necessary.
3. For severe cases, slowly administer 1% sodium sulfate 10ml intravenously every 30 minutes until symptoms subside.
Alternatively, use 500-1000ml of a 1-2% sodium sulfate injection over 2-3 days.
For milder cases, oral administration of sodium sulfate can be used.
