Organizers used a giant grill measuring 1.5 kilometers in length, with about 1250 chefs simultaneously cooking 12 tons of beef. It is said that over two thousand food enthusiasts gathered to drool nearby.
This occurred on April 13, 2008, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the record has been recognized by Guinness World Records.
According to the National Cattle Meat Association of Uruguay, the previous world record was set in 2006 in Mexico with a grill length of 1.29 kilometers and a total weight of beef at 8 tons. Uruguayans are not pleased, believing that 'barbecue is an important part of Uruguayan cuisine,' and how can they give up this top title easily, so they organized this amazing event.
