Steps for making hot dog buns:
1. Pour the water, egg, and sugar into the bread maker; then add the flour (note: do not mix in any other order). Make a small well in the center of the flour and pour in the yeast. Start kneading on the bread machine for 20 minutes.
2. After 20 minutes, add the softened butter to the dough; continue kneading until the dough is smooth. Let it sit at room temperature (around 28℃) to rise for one hour. If using a bread machine, no need to take out the container and select the rising function.
3. Check if the dough has risen by pressing your finger into the center of the dough; if the indentation does not bounce back, it means the dough has risen sufficiently. If it bounces back, either the time is insufficient or the yeast is ineffective.
4. After the second rising, turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. Deflate the air bubbles and roll the dough into long strips. Divide each strip into 8 equal parts using a spatula. Cover these pieces with plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.
5. While waiting, apply some oil to the baking tray and brush it evenly.
6. After resting, take one piece of dough and stretch it by hand; place a hot dog in the center, then fold the dough around it tightly, sealing the seam.
7. Repeat steps 6 with the remaining pieces until all are shaped. Arrange them on the baking tray neatly, cover them again with plastic wrap, and let them rise for another 15 minutes. Meanwhile,Oven preheat to 180℃
8. Once risen, apply an egg wash using a brush over the surface of the dough.
9. Bake in the preheated oven at 180℃ for 10 minutes until the surface turns golden brown.Take out and place on a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
