Glutinous Rice Red Dates

Ingredients

  Red Rhizoma Ziziphi Spinosi 200g

  Glutinous Rice Powder 100g

30g Rock Sugar

200ml Hot Water

  Glutinous Rice Preparation steps for red dates

1. Wash the red dates and soak them in cold water for at least 3 hours or overnight (need to refrigerate).

2. Use a small knife to cut an opening on the soaked date, carefully remove the seed. Rice flour is mixed with warm water to form a dry dough, then shaped into small balls slightly larger than the date's seed, placed inside the date and pressed firmly. Excess can be removed.

200ml hot water plus 30g rock sugar (or sugar), place the date filled with rice flour ball,Steam Steam the pot after the water boils for about 10 minutes. The dates will become plump, and can be eaten hot or cold.

Tips

  Chicken heart Red dates are best for this dish, but do not buy overly shriveled ones that are hard to soak, nor those without seeds---the fragrance of the date is insufficient.

Form the glutinous rice flour into a ball after adding the dates and press it tightly.
