How to Make Fried Lotus Root Strips:

1. Cut the fresh lotus root into strips and coat with dry cornstarch.

2. Melt the butter in hot water, then add cornstarch, salt, water, and egg, stirring until it can be pulled into threads, quite thick as shown.

3. Dip the coated lotus root strips into the cornstarch slurry to coat thoroughly, then deep-fry until golden brown (here we forgot to capture the step of coating with the slurry).

4. Remove from heat and drain excess oil using a strainer, then use kitchen paper to absorb any remaining oil.

5. Children especially like dipping it in Tomato sauce to eat

6. Personally prefer it plain with its milky aroma.
